Note: Please, feel free to use the following parragraphs if you need to introduce me at any event. I wrote this for a project proposal and it is almost updated.

Un breu resum (CAT)

Benito Zaragozí és llicenciat en Geografia per la Universitat d’Alacant (2005), on també va realitzar diversos cursos de postgrau (2005-2008), poc després va obtenir un Màster en Sistemes d’Informació Geogràfica - UNIGIS per la Universitat de Girona (2010) i un Doctorat en Geografia per la Universitat d’Alacant (2012). A més, complementa la seva formació amb nombrosos cursos de formació especialitzats sobre eines docents (LaTeX, Photoshop, Moodle, etc.) i per a la recerca (Big Data, Dockers, Java, Android, R GNU, C #, Webservices, etc.).

Ha realitzat estades en centres d’EUA i Espanya, i participa en revistes internacionals amb alt índex d’impacte, com a autor i revisor (Ecological Informatics, Environmental Modelling & Software, Agriculture, Ecosystems & Environment, entre d’altres).

Després de finalitzar la seva tesi doctoral va treballar diversos anys com a investigador contractat a la Universitat d’Alacant (2013-2017), on va tenir oportunitat de participar en diversos projectes oficials. Actualment, és Professor Lector a la Universitat Rovira i Virgili.

En els seus estudis aborda diversos problemes geogràfics, explorant enfocaments innovadors de les Tecnologies i Ciències de la Informació Geogràfica (TIG i GIScience). Habitualment, aquests treballs posen l’accent en la reproductibilitat científica mitjançant l’ús de Programari Lliure, fluxos de treball i Dades Obertes.

A brief summary (ENG)

Benito Zaragozí graduated in Geography from the University of Alicante (2005), where he also completed several postgraduate courses (2005-2008). Shortly after, he obtained a Master’s degree in Geographic Information Systems - UNIGIS from the University of Girona (2010) and a PhD in Geography from the University of Alicante (2012). In addition, he complements his training with numerous specialized training courses on teaching tools (LaTeX, Photoshop, Moodle, etc) and for research (Big Data, Dockers, Java, Android, R GNU, C#, WindowsPhone, Webservices, etc).

He has completed stays in centers in the United States and Spain, and participates in international journals with a high impact factor, as an author and reviewer (Ecological Informatics, Environmental Modelling & Software, Agriculture, Ecosystems & Environment, among others).

After completing his doctoral thesis, he worked for several years as a research fellow at the University of Alicante, where he had the opportunity to participate in several official projects. Currently, he is a Lecturer at the Universitat Rovira i Virgili.

In his studies, he addresses various geographic problems, exploring novel approaches of Geographic Information Science and Technologies (GIScience and TIG). Typically, these works emphasize scientific reproducibility through the use of Open Source Software, workflows, and Open Data.

Benito Zaragozí se licenció en Geografía en la Universidad de Alicante (2005), donde también realizó varios cursos de postgrado (2005-2008), poco después obtuvo un Master en Sistemas de Información Geográfica - UNIGIS por la Universidad de Girona (2010) y un Doctorado en Geografía por la Universidad de Alicante (2012). Además, complementa su formación con numerosos cursos de formación especializados sobre herramientas docentes (LaTeX, Photoshop, Moodle, etc) y para la investigación (Big Data, Dockers, Java, Android, R GNU, C#, WindowsPhone, Webservices, etc).

Ha realizado estancias en centros de EEUU y España, y participa en revistas internacionales con alto índice de impacto, como autor y revisor (Ecological Informatics, Environmental Modelling & Software, Agriculture, Ecosystems & Environment, entre otras).

Después de finalizar su tesis doctoral trabajó varios años como investigador contratado en la Universidad de Alicante, dónde tuvo oportunidad de participar en varios proyectos oficiales. Actualmente, es Profesor Lector en la Universitat Rovira i Virgili.

En sus estudios aborda diversos problemas geográficos, explorando enfoques novedosos de las Tecnologías y Ciencias de la Información Geográfica (TIG y GIScience). Habitualmente, estos trabajos hacen hincapié en la reproducibilidad científica mediante el uso de Software Libre, flujos de trabajo y Datos Abiertos.
